A Unique Path

Each of us follows a different path on our journey through life. At Our Journey, children have the freedom to follow their own path under the careful guidance of our Montessori trained staff.

Multiage groupings are a hallmark of the Montessori Method: younger children learn from older children; older children reinforce their learning by teaching concepts they have already mastered. This arrangement also mirrors the real world, where individuals work and socialize with people of all ages and dispositions.

Toddler Class - Ages 18 months to 3 years. The Toddler environments emphasize materials and activities scaled to the children's size and abilities, opportunities to develop movement, and activities to develop independence. Development of independence in toileting is emphasized as well.

Early Childhood - Ages 3 - 6 years. Preschool and Kindergarten. In early childhood, Montessori students learn through sensory-motor activities, working with materials that develop their cognitive powers through direct experience: seeing, hearing, tasting, smelling, touching, and movement.

Elementary 1 - Ages 6 - 9 years. In the elementary years, the child continues to organize his thinking through work with the Montessori learning materials and an interdisciplinary curriculum as he passes from the concrete to the abstract. He begins the application of his knowledge to real-world experiences.

Elementary 2 - Not Currently Enrolling, unless there is enough interest.
