Environment

The first aim of the prepared environment is, as far as it is possible, to render the growing child independent of the adult. (Maria Montessori. The Secret of Childhood, 1966.)

There are generally six aspects, or principles, to the Prepared Environment: Freedom; Structure and Order; Beauty; Nature and Reality; Social Environment; Intellectual Environment.

Diversity

Great things are accomplished by teams.  When paths merge each individual brings a unique perspective.  Learning to respect diversity and harness it's power, is how we strive to live and to teach by example.

Individuality

Creativity, innovation, and individuality are valued as much as concentration, motivation, and persistence.  Montessori schooling helps each child develop individuality in a way that accentuates his or her innate intelligence.  Montessori takes full advantage of the young child's intense desire to learn while respecting his individuality.
